Fire barrier foam engineered to protect cellulosic and metallic residential and industrial structures
Allied designs stable aqueous foam and foam-cement systems for construction, geotechnical, fire-protection, and environmental work. Our fire barrier composites carry the highest rating recorded per ASTM-E119 — non-hazardous, vermiculite-free, and free of rust-prone metals.
Most fire-rated materials underperform in a real fire
At the thicknesses and densities commonly specified today, many standard fire-rated building materials fall short once a fire is actually burning. That gap shows up in higher losses, greater risk to life safety, and worse environmental outcomes than the ratings on paper suggest.
Allied's fire barrier foam composites are built to close that gap. Independently confirmed by a major thermal testing laboratory, our composite protected a steel H-beam through a full ASTM-E119 furnace cycle at just 1 in (2.5 cm) of thickness.
As wildfire exposure drives insurers to reassess coverage in high-risk regions, effective fire barrier construction is becoming a underwriting consideration, not just a code minimum.
One foam platform, six material systems
Allied's stable aqueous foams reduce the weight of cement, concrete, ceramics, and coatings while adding insulation, fire resistance, and durability.
Fire Barrier Foam
The highest fire barrier rating per ASTM-E119 — vermiculite-free and non-hazardous. Cast as panels or sprayed directly onto steel.
Foam Cement
Densities from 90 pcf down to 3 pcf for geotechnical fill, landscape architecture, lightweight roof decks, wall and floor panels, partitions, blocks, and cinder-block inserts.
Flexible Foam Cement Composites
The "wood-like flexible cementitious foam" behind our 2014 Edison Award Silver Medal — high flexural strength, clean mandrel bending, strong adhesion, and excellent water resistance.
Geopolymer Foam
Flexible and very light, under 1.5 pcf (24 kg/m³). Select geopolymer foam composites reach an insulative value above R 3.8 per inch with strong fire resistance.
Insulative Fire Bricks & Ceramics
Fired ceramic foams at densities as low as 23 kg/m³ (1.5 pcf) with strong compressive strength and thermal-shock resistance — durable firebricks for kilns and incinerators.
Pervious Foam Cement & Landfill Cover
Pervious and non-pervious foamed cement for waste encapsulation, soil stabilization, and leachate filtration — a long-lasting surface cover that suppresses odor, vapor, litter, and vectors.
Highest strength among 35 pcf foam cements
Allied fire barrier panels and boards outperform autoclaved and cast-in-place foam cement products on both compressive and bending strength, all measured at the same 35 pcf density.
| Cement Composite | Cure Condition | Density | Compressive Strength | Bending Strength |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AFT Fire Barrier Foam I | Room temp. | 35 pcf | 900–1,000 psi | 370–500 psi |
| AFT Fire Barrier Foam II | Room temp. | 35 pcf | 650–750 psi | 300–350 psi |
| AFT Portland Cem I/II | Room temp. | 35 pcf | 400–450 psi | 100–200 psi |
| Autoclaved Concrete | Autoclaving | 35 pcf | 600–700 psi | ~100 psi |
Values as published by Allied Foam Tech Corp. Fire Barrier Foam I leads both compressive and bending strength at equal density.
Four ways to apply fire-rated foam
Fire rated and easy to handle, suited to precast or cast-in-place manufacture — with good adhesion to steel, non-hazardous, no rust, and solvent-free.
Fire Panel — Precast
Under 10 pcf. Fire rated, easy to handle, suited to precast or cast-in-place manufacture.
Fire Panel II
11.5 pcf (185 kg/m³). Higher-density panel with the same fire-rated, easy-handling build.
Spray Application
Sprayable with good adhesion to steel — non-hazardous, no rust, solvent-free.
Vertical Spray
Vertical application with strong adhesion — non-hazardous, no rust, solvent-free.
Applications across construction & industry
The same foam platform is engineered across a wide range of density and performance targets, from structural fill to firefighting barriers.
Geotechnical & Landscape Architecture
Lightweight fill from 90 pcf down to 3 pcf for geotechnical engineering and landscape architecture over structure.
Roof Decks, Panels & Partitions
Lightweight concrete roof decks, wall and floor panels, partitions, blocks, and insulative cinder-block inserts.
Landfill Cover & Environmental
Pervious and non-pervious foamed cement for waste encapsulation, soil stabilization, and leachate filtration; suppresses odor, vapor, litter, and vectors on landfills, ponds, and lagoons.
Insulative Firebrick & Ceramics
Densities as low as 23 kg/m³ (1.5 pcf) for insulative, high-temperature-resistant ceramic foams used in kilns and incinerators.
Geopolymer Foam
Flexible, ultra-light composites under 1.5 pcf reaching R > 3.8 per inch with strong fire resistance.
Textile & Adhesive Coatings
Foamed expansion agents give controlled film thickness and better resin distribution; foamed adhesives cut consumption and resist absorption into porous substrates.
Firefighting Barriers
A specially formulated foam used as a long-duration firefighting barrier for containing forest fires.
Foam Ceramics & Fired Products
Fine, uniform foam texture carries through the full hardening and firing process for consistent ceramic performance.
Foam agents, composites & generators
All foam products are supplied in concentrated form, available in 55-gallon drums or totes. Foam generators output from a few liters to hundreds of liters per minute, operated locally, remotely, or wired into plant control panels.
Foam coatings, landfill cover, and odor control with water resistance and stiffness; fine-pore, thermal-shock-resistant fired ceramics; durable at cast thickness as low as 1/4 in.
Very low water uptake with high early and 28-day compressive strength. Foamed cement to 3 pcf for insulative wall fill, load-bearing panels, blocks, and cinder-block inserts.
Polymeric foam products developed specifically for coating and adhesive applications.
Economical, mobile, compact foam generators — locally operated, remotely controlled, or wired to plant control panels.
Allied's foam systems are compatible with a broad range of aggregates, fillers, extenders, retarders, accelerators, colorants, and hydraulic inorganics — unlike conventional surfactant- or protein-based foams, which are far more formulation-sensitive.
Built into landmark structures
Geotechnical fill for WTC subway stabilization
A compact, highly mobile foam-cement mixing and pumping setup placed lightweight geotechnical fill around the 9/11 Memorial Museum and adjoining subway structures.

Landscape architecture on the roof
The world's first low-slump geotechnical roof fill used Allied's cement composite design, foam products, and machinery. The award-winning 530,000 ft² facility places more than half its floor area below grade, with three functioning green roofs and skylights bringing daylight underground.
